I'm Cath and I mostly tutor English (Prep-Year 12). I also tutor French (beginners-advanced), VCE Psychology, VCE Literature, VCE English Language and Maths (Prep-Year 8). Having studied history and politics subjects at school and university, I can also help students with SOSE / humanities subjects and general study skills. I love learning and in particular, am passionate about language, literature and social issues. I hold a Bachelor of Arts and a Master of Social Work. To support myself through university, I started tutoring in English and French alongside my work as a disability support worker. Five years later, it brings me joy to see an idea 'click' into place for a student and to watch them grow in knowledge and confidence. Alongside English and French, I also know Spanish and Italian and can tutor the basics in those languages. I love learning languages and about language in general, so much so that I returned to uni during the lockdowns to start a Bachelor of Languages and Linguistics, which I am continuing part-time, majoring in Modern Greek. I don't know yet how this will fit into my career as a whole, but I am interested in further exploring Southern European literature. I may also combine my love of education and social work and work in education advocacy or policy. My social work background enables me to understand the child in the context of their whole family, school community and cultural upbringing. I like to learn from the student about how they feel they learn best and what they most need help on, but I also involve the parents or caregivers in determining goals, planning lessons and keeping them updated on their child's progress. When not working, I enjoy listening to music, singing in my choir, learning languages, creative writing and spending time with loved ones.
