There are plenty of steps on how to improve health, memory and focus, but we short-listed it into just 3 simple yet effective ways for students.
Sleep is not only required for optimal brain function, it has a powerful relationship with the generation of neural pathways and memory. Think of sleep like giving your brain the chance to file all of the information gathered throughout the day in the relevant folder within a filing cabinet.
Getting 8-10 hours of sleep is ideal, any less than 8 hours and you should aim to gradually start getting to bed earlier.
Some people struggle to get to sleep when they go to bed earlier than usual and some people struggle to get to sleep regardless of when they go to bed. Try avoiding screens within an hour or two of going to bed. The light from computer and phone screens keeps your brain active and awake preventing it starting to shut down for the evening.
Diet & Exercise
Diet can have a large impact on your ability to focus, processed foods will work against you. Typically avoid processed foods such as chips, fast food and soft drinks. With an improved diet, will come improved memory and brain function.
Surprisingly the act of taking time out of studying to get moving and active will actually help to de-stress and de-clutter your thoughts. Consider it free thinking time where you can let your mind wander.
