10 TIPS FOR STUDENTS TO BOOST PRODUCTIVITY

Productivity or output compared with input is a theory behind economics.

Do output and input work for students and their productivity? It certainly does. Knowing how to get the best output based on positive input will make a student more productive.

Picasso, the world-famous artist, said:
‘Action is the foundational key to success.’

What action can students take to ensure their productivity rating is on the upside and their output and input levels balance? Here are 10 tips to make students able to boost productivity.

1. Manage your time effectively.

When you are studying or reading up on an important topic, it is vital to set aside the necessary time for uninterrupted study or reading. Avoid procrastination and be active about starting to study according to the schedule you have devised.

2. Break bigger tasks into smaller chunks.

Look at the topic you are studying. Is it lengthy? Divide the subject into little bits of information and learn those mini portions. Make use of study techniques like mind maps and learning keywords.

3. Take time to eat healthy food.

Your body and mind need a good diet to encourage a healthy lifestyle. Eating healthy food and having proper meal times will give you a healthy outlook, more energy and a positive mindset.

4. Get a study buddy.

Sometimes having a fellow student to revise questions with, or go over notes together, is a big help—someone else who is serious about their work. If you don’t have a serious study buddy, consider a study group to help with revision.

5. Plan your day according to your needs.

Have a plan for the time you have available. Keep a diary of events and set aside time for study, relaxation and exercise. Planning will help you to divide the work in proportion to the overall time you have available. Then, if something else crops up, you can juggle your schedule to ensure you still have enough time for everything.

6. Be goal orientated.

Set goals or targets for yourself. These could be short-term and long-term goals you are striving for. The short-term goals may be weekly or daily targets, which will soon add up to getting you closer to your monthly goals. Steven Covey, the author of many motivational books, wrote about ‘’Starting with the end in mind.’ When you have direction, you have more motivation and productivity as you achieve your goals. This feeling of knowing what you are aiming for puts you on a path to success.

7. Make sure you are putting distractions out of the way.

Digital devices can be very distracting. If your mobile phone keeps beeping with notifications, put the device away or turn off the sound. Set a timer for yourself and use this to give you reasonable breaks when you can look at phone messages. Schedule times to watch digital devices as a treatment time in your planned timetable.

8. Find out what kind of student you are and your learning style.

Everyone learns in different ways. For example, some students are visual learners; others are auditory learners. Knowing what type of learner you are will help with your study method and your retention of the facts.

9. Get enough sleep.

Make sure you have enough sleep. Sleep deprivation blocks your ability to learn and retain facts. One of the keys to learning effectively is having enough sleep to absorb facts and retain them for the following day.

10. Rewards help with motivation.

Give yourself little rewards to keep feeling positive. Rewards act as incentives to do more and study harder. Invent your little reward system. This could be small bonus points leading to a special prize. Discuss this with your parents and see if they are keen to participate.

Boosting productivity through these simple suggestions will help manage your output because you have taken the time to persevere with positive tactics towards your input. Remember, the business model for productivity is good output results from positive and focused input. Therefore, knowing this simple formula will help you boost your productivity.
